Oman has a very ambitious agenda for growth and economic diversification which requires sophisticated human capital development. We operate in a global knowledge economy in which technology fosters innovation and change; new challenges emerge and new opportunities arise on a daily basis. All of these factors, and the desire to be competitive in an international marketplace, require 21st century skills and abilities. Takatuf is a strategic Human Capital solutions provider which identifies diverse ways to meet this challenge in order to support success in Oman’s national and global initiatives.
One innovative programme that is very much oriented to the future is the Takatuf Scholars Programme. Designed to prepare Oman’s most talented young people for personal and professional success, the Programme introduces them to new tools for learning and equips them with the skills needed to adapt to an ever-changing global environment. It begins with an enrichment programme that prepares motivated, bright grade 10 Omanis from all over the Sultanate for leadership roles and concludes with university studies abroad.
Founded in 2012, the Programme has grown in reach and scale. Each year the number of applications grow, and the first group of Takatuf International Scholars (2012) have been offered places at leading universities including MIT, NYU in New York City, Imperial College and UCL, both in London. Equally important, the network of sponsors and supporters of the Programme is expanding as more corporations and individual citizens recognize that developing human capital is the most important and necessary priority for building the future Oman is planning for.
